Obituary of Larry Olson

Lawrence Wynn Olson, age 82, who raised his beloved family in New Brighton, Minnesota, passed away February 17, 2021 at Johanna Shores – Senior Living Community in Arden Hills, Minnesota.

Larry was born May 28, 1938 in North St. Paul, MN to Lawrence R. and Dorothy (Webster) Olson. He graduated from North St. Paul High School in 1956 and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in business and public administration. He valiantly served his country as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and later spent most of his career as a public servant working for Hennepin County. On July 23, 1960, Larry married Dorraine Schaak from Hopkins, MN, and together raised a family of four loving children. Larry enjoyed going on long walks, whether through the Minneapolis Sky Way or in Long Lake Regional Park, and was an avid cross-stitcher. He also liked baking bread, watching football, bowling, and could never turn down a martini.

Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorraine Olson; along with four children - Kirsten (Olson) and Robin Barwood of Francestown, NH, Karl and Gillian Olson of East Lansing, MI, Kate Olson and Mike Walters of Minneapolis, MN, and Erik and Kathy Olson of Florence, TX; six grandchildren - Ben Olson, Parker Olson, Forrest Barwood, Joel Barwood, David Olson, and Tom Olson; his sister Valerie (Olson) Arneson; his sister in-law Evy Olson; and loving nieces and nephew and relatives.

Preceded in death by infant son, Christopher; brother, Carl. 

 A private family gathering will be held this summer.
