Robert Thomas Jorvig

Jorvig, Robert Thomas, age 99, passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2021. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Torval and Edna Jorvig, and wife of 66 years Barbara Jorvig. He is survived by his daughter Holly; son Tom (Muriel Jean); 5 grandchildren: Alina Marks, Braden Marks, Kira Bork (Corey), Jason Jorvig (Jill), Jenny Goswami (Aashish); 6 great grandchildren (Connor and Morgan Bork; Jackson Jorvig; Jay, Sonya and Serena Goswami); and special friend Audrey Dougherty.

Bob was born in St. Louis Park on March 14, 1921. He graduated from St. Louis Park High School, received his undergraduate degree from the University of MN and master’s degree from Harvard. He was a proud Marine—serving in WWII and the Korean War. He spent four decades working in the public and private sector, including leadership roles at the Metropolitan Council and St. Paul and Minneapolis Housing Redevelopment Authorities.He was also a member of the St. Louis Park Historical Society. He was always active—and loved to travel, ski, roller skate, bike, golf, camp and spend time with his family and friends. He also had a passion for art and photography. Thank you to the staff at the Minnesota Veterans Home-Minneapolis for the wonderful care they provided for Bob. Memorials preferred to STEP (St. Louis Park Emergency Program). A private service is planned.
