Obituary of Roger Daniel Carlson

Roger Daniel Carlson, passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2021, due to complications of COVID-19. He was born in Duluth on August 22, 1940, to Wallace and Lillian Carlson. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1958 and joined the US Army the day before his 18th birthday. He was the rank of Sergeant with Company B, 2nd Airborne Battle Group, 187th Infantry where he was a Paratrooper as he served 4 years in the Army. For years Roger was an avid season ticket holder of UMD Bulldog Hockey. He loved to travel, fish, and enjoyed the occasional gambling trip to Vegas or with his brother, Chuck to the local casinos.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois Carlson. He is survived by his daughter, Quincey Davidson, his son, James (Toni) Richards, brother, Charles Carlson, and sister, Linda Carlson.

Roger has a grandson, Kolton Davidson and two granddaughters and 5 great-grandchildren. He is survived by 2 special nephews, Brandon Carlson (Jennifer) and Brett Carlson (Jodi). Also by two nieces, Celeste and Kobreina.

Due to the COVID pandemic, there will be no service at this time. Roger will be buried with military honors at a future date. Cards of condolences can be sent to Roger’s daughter, Quincey Davidson at PO Box 35, Grand Portage, MN 55605 or in memory of Roger Carlson, to the Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
