Obituary of Martha A Miller

Martha A. Miller passed away January 31, 2021, peacefully with her family at her side, at Mother Of Mercy nursing home in Albany. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

Martha was born on April 6, 1929 in Krain Township to Richard and Mary (Woebkenberg) Douvier. She was the 9th of 12 children. She grew up on a farm outside of Albany. Growing up, she gained a deep faith and love of Jesus Christ, learned the value of hard work, kindness, generosity, optimism, and maintaining a joyful spirit. These values served her well throughout her life, especially as she raised her own children. She was generous to a fault and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for someone in need and always put others before herself. Throughout life, she suffered setbacks, but she never let it get her down. To the end, she held onto her faith and worried more about her children than herself.

Martha is survived by 9 of her 10 children (Richard, Jim, Tom, Joe, David, Dan, Joanne (Long), Joyce, and Ricca (Peterson)), 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, who made up the entirety of her world.

Martha was proceeded in death by her loving husband Arthur, and her beloved son Michael. Martha loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandkids more than anything.

She thrived with visits from her family. Martha was an avid seamstress who enjoyed sewing anything from clothes, to stuffed toys, to costumes for family pets. Along with her children, Martha is also survived by her sister Adeline Cox.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations toward St. Croix Hospice.
