Obituary of Rickey W. Pond
Rickey W. Pond, 70, of Duluth, MN passed away Tuesday, December 8th, 2020.
He was born on August 24th, 1950 in Duluth, MN to Bill and Pinky (Taylor) Pond. He was a lifelong Duluth resident and 1968 graduate of Morgan Park High School and a 1973 graduate of UMD. He worked at Georgia Pacific from 1973 to 2002, retiring as Scheduling Supervisor.
Rick was a member of Good Hope Church, American Legion Post 71 and AARP. He enjoyed taking trips, cabin outings, hunting, biking or just feeding or playing with any animal or bird that would let him. He loved spending time outdoors, especially at the deer shack where he cherished every minute with family and friends. Rick loved to see the big smiles from all the kids who came to the shack as they picked out toys from his famous boxes full of toys. He loved to travel with family and friends and deeply cherished the many trips with his son Corey, lovely daughter-in-law Nicole, and grandchildren Jeremiah and Allie. With Blessing from Nicole, Rick got to travel to different parts of the world with his son Corey. Rick deeply loved his son and daughter-in-law and often said he was the proudest man on earth and they meant the world to him. We would all do anything for each other. Rick cherished and loved his two grandkids, Jeremiah and Allie, who he was so very proud of and thoroughly enjoyed every minute with them. They loved to stay at grandpa’s house as they would never know what kind of thing they would build or what kind of different adventure they would go on next! Rick was truly blessed to have such a wonderful loving family who he got to share so many years with.
He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and loved by family members. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Pinky Pond.
Rick is survived by his son, Corey (Nicole) Pond of Duluth; grandson, Jeremiah, granddaughter, Allie; brother, Randall (Betty) Pond of Mountain Iron; nephews, William (Cara) Pond of Mountain Iron and Robert Pond of Virginia.
