I had dinner with Mike Bednar and myself yesterday and Mike told me about the passing of Harold. I worked with Harold at Kraus Anderson for many years.
My sincere sympathies for your lost. Harold was a very carefree person and I thought he was excellent construction superintendent for Kraus Anderson.

The world has lost a kind soul and an intelligent man who loved to share his skill and knowledge with all. I enjoyed many conversations with Harold and always loved his soft, tender disposition. I think Heaven gained an extraordinary soul and his impact on those he encountered will always be remembered. Thank you Harold for your kindness and sincerity. I mourn your early death, and yet, I am glad I had the chance to meet you. I pray for peace for Connie and your family.

Harry was my older brother. Like it or not, he provided the lead for my siblings and I. He paved the way for college. He was the bearer of family news, good or bad, and did so in his gentle manner. He was an excellent historian and was able to share childhood memories the rest of us did not have. He led us ice skating on ponds, built the biggest jumps on our sliding hills, and conquered us at Monopoly.
Harry not only sponsored my son’s first snowboard trip, but he also accompanied him. Harry was never so bruised in his life. I am not sure I should be thankful for the expensive habit he helped start.
The world could use more souls that share his gentle, kind spirit.
I will dearly miss him.

Connie, this morning Tim Anderson wrote a note alerting your classmates that Harold had passed. I’m deeply sorry for your loss, Connie, and for the family’s loss. The obituary is beautiful! I send you embracing love and wish you continued best memories of Harold and a speedy path to feeling steady again. Green candle for the green Earth that holds us in life and health! And I will light a pink candle in my house for Harold for love.

Dear Sally, Bless you for the loving comments. It will be a long difficult path however I feel the love and support from so many. Perfect choice of candles which warms my heart. I light two candles next to his urn every evening when we would share dinner. Thank you!

So sorry to hear this news Connie and family. Harold and I became friends when we were seated next to each other in Earth Science class during our freshman year of high school. I used to tease him by calling him by his middle name and he told me it was his godfather’s name. My middle name is Michael, but Harold got wise and asked my godfather’s name. When I confessed it was Archibald, he was then after ever ready with his riposte.
Deepest sympathy,
John Peterman

John I wanted to call to share the tragic news yet didn't have your phone #. Blessed he attended Bill's service and reconnected with Cathedral classmates & friends. He took it very hard. Believe he wrote you a letter. Appreciate the fun story about middle names. Yes he didn't like Harold or Wilfred although he was a very nice uncle. The German tradition was to have the first name that of his father's middle name. Vern's was Harold, not Joseph like all Vern's brothers. Thank you for the tribute.

We are crushed to lose such a wonderful, talented, gentle soul. Harry was loved by his extended family, and we will miss him. We are one fewer, but we have lost far more in Harry's passing. --Eric (Fournier) & Kathy (Schaaf)
