Obituary of Emray J. Siemsen

Emray J Siemsen, 82, was born on August 18, 1938, in Nimrod, MN to Vernon and Kathern (Lehner) Siemsen.  This proud Hermantown Hawk (class of 57) took his final flight on  December 8, 2020. 

Emray joined the Navy and while home on leave went to a dance at the Armory with a buddy. He saw a blonde he did not know and asked his buddy, “Do you know that blonde? His buddy replied, “Yeah, but she won’t go out with you.“ They were married 3 months later on September 27, 1958.

While in the Navy, Emray served aboard the U.S.S. Canberra CAG2.  In 1966, he started as a janitor at Hermantown School and retired from his alma mater as the building and grounds supervisor in May of 1997.  Emray loved hunting, fishing and nature. He gladly shared his knowledge of the outdoors with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and anyone who would listen. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy, brother Gary, an infant daughter and son Murray. 

His survivors include his wife Linda; his favorite daughter Kathie (Rusty) and his son Michael (favorite daughter-in-law Cindy); grandchildren Thom (Vonchae), Maria (Baird), Ripley (Abi), Chase (Sammi), Buddy (Jordan), Jamie, Megan and Gabray; great-grandchildren Romero, Catalina, Owen, Isabelle, Flora, Cohen, Corbin, Ivy, Odin, Otis with 1 on the way;  brothers Merlin (Belle) and Randy (Lenore); and bonus kids, Carrie and Mikey. 

Interment will be at the MN Veterans Cemetery.  The family would like to thank the MN Veterans Home in Silver Bay for the excellent care provided with honor and dignity.
