Obituary of Natalie Hanson

Natalie Hanson (age 83) of Duluth passed away December 23rd at Breck Homes in Bloomington, MN due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease and COVID. Natalie was born November 18th, 1937 to Bengt and Mildred Anderson in Ashland, Wisconsin. She grew up in Superior, Wisconsin, graduated from Central High School, received a teaching degree from Wisconsin State College Superior, and achieved her Master’s Equivalency in Special Education with a focus on the visually impaired.

During her final years in college, she met the love of her life Arnold Hanson. Arnold and Natalie married on July 12, 1958 at Central Methodist Congregational Church. They raised their 3 children Jill, Scott and Jeff in Duluth. Natalie worked in the Duluth School District specializing in education of the visually impaired until her retirement in 1998. Natalie loved quilting, traveling, learning about her genealogy, and competing at board and card games with the family. In 2016, Natalie moved to Bloomington to be closer to Jill and Jeff as her Alzheimer’s progressed.

Natalie was preceded in death by her parents Bengt and Mildred and her husband Arnold. 

Natalie is survived by her children Jill Patterson (Ken) of Bloomington, MN, Scott Hanson of Huntington Beach, CA, and Jeff Hanson (Laurie) of Bloomington, MN; grandkids Lindsey Snyder (Randy) of Trinity, FL, Evan Patterson (Agustina) of Saint Paul, MN, Troy Hanson of Orange, CA, Matthew Hanson of Huntington Beach, CA and Laurel Hanson of Huntington Beach, CA, Mckenna Hanson of Minneapolis, MN and Isaac Hanson of Bloomington, MN; sisters Jackie Anderson (Roger) of Lombard, IL and Priscilla Keller (John) of Naples, FL; and many nieces and nephews, last but not least is Natalie’s only great grandchild, Bennett Snyder of Trinity, FL. We want to thank Breck Homes of Bloomington, MN for the incredible care they gave our mother during her final years. We were blessed to know she was in such good hands.

The family is planning a celebration of life in the summer of 2021.
