Karen was one of the dearest, kindest people I've ever known, and I hope I expressed that to her adequately during our friendship. Though she was divorced from my Uncle Burton, she remained in touch with our family, especially with my mother, who adored her. During the 4 years my mother was at Jones-Harrison, she enjoyed Karen's frequent visits and would tell me all about them. I wasn't living in MN at the time, and really appreciated that Karen was so good to her. After I returned to MN, Karen and I began meeting for late afternoon lunches every 6 weeks or so, having wonderful conversations about art, music and the politics of the day. I am so grateful that we got to spend this time together, which we did until her declining health made it too difficult.
My sincere condolences to the family. Karen was truly a mensch. May her memory be for a blessing.
