Obituary of Gerald Duane Gravdahl

Age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, after a long battle with illness on December 26, 2020. He was born on June 13, 1939 in Brainerd, MN to Estalene and Alfred Gravdahl. He grew up in Pine River, MN and was raised by a special Aunt and Uncle, Helmar “Mick” and Clara Jones. After graduating from Pine River High School in 1957, he moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Honeywell/Alliant Techsystems for over 40 years, as a Quality Engineer. After retiring in 1999, he enjoyed RV’ing and traveling, watching football, drinking coffee and playing with his beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce (nee York); daughters, Jennifer (Terry) Michael and Jill (Michael) Stiller; grandchildren, Zachary, Alexandra and Samantha Michael and Brecken and Hadden Stiller; special cousin, Karen Mason of Pine River, MN, many other cousins and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Gravdahl; mother, Estalene Gordon; step-father, Edward Gordon; brothers, Richard Gravdahl, James Gravdahl and Michael Gordon; special cousin, Helmar “Bud” Jones and special niece/goddaughter, Diane Jones. He will forever be remembered for his fierce love and dedication to his family and grandchildren, his quick wit, sense of humor and infectious laugh. Our hearts are forever broken. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Liver Foundation or the American Kidney Foundation. A Celebration of Life will take place in the summer after COVID-19.
