Obituary of Victor Derald Tapper

Victor (Vic) Derald Tapper of Duluth passed away peacefully in his home on December 18, 2020.

Vic was born November 25, 1923 in Mora, MN to Victor and Fordyce (Robertson) Tapper.  He attended school in Proctor and Duluth.  In 1943, Vic married Joan Davenport.  They had 3 children, a daughter Vickie, son Larry and son Glen.

Vic served in the Army and Air Force as and airplane mechanic during WWII.  He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp, the Elks Club, and the American Legion.  He worked at Diamond Tool and Horseshoe Company for 44 years as a Plant Engineering Manager until he retired in 1985.

Vic loved hunting, fishing, and camping.  He and his wife Joan had many adventures throughout the years.  They often traveled in their motorhome taking fishing trips to Canada.  They enjoyed their years as snowbirds in their homes they had in Florida and Texas.

Vic was proceeded in death by his parents, Victor and Florence (Fordyce) Tapper, his sisters, Marylin, Joyce, Joanne and Betty, his grandson Daniel Tapper, his son-in-law Bernie Thompson and his wife of 74 years, Joan Tapper.  He is survived by his daughter Vickie Thompson of Oklahoma, his son Larry (Gloria) Tapper of Superior, and son Glen (Jeanette) Tapper of Superior and 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Arrangements made by Cremation Society of Minnesota in Duluth. There will be no service at Vic’s request.
