Obituary of Karen Rose Altmeyer
Karen Rose Altmeyer (Saferstein) of Woodbury MN passed away on December 13, 2020, at age 65, after a prolonged fight with numerous chronic illnesses. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and June Saferstein, formerly of Detroit, MI. Surviving Karen is her devoted husband David (Woodbury); daughter and son-in-law Anji and Stephen Webb (TX); son Brian Altmeyer (MN); two brothers, Benjamin and David Saferstein (VA); and one grandson Cooper Webb (TX).
Karen was born in Detroit, MI and graduated from Henry Ford High School in 1973. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University in 1977. Karen met her husband David at Michigan State and they were married in the Alumni Chapel there in the same year.
Karen and her husband moved to California in 1979 and spent the next several decades raising her family there, and enjoying the beautiful California climate. For many years, Karen operated a licensed day care center from her home, helping numerous families who struggled with childcare by providing a safe and caring environment for their children. In recent years, Karen moved to MN when her husband’s employment relocated to St. Paul.
Karen will always be remembered for her smile, and her devotion to her family and her many life-long friends.
**Update as of 7/19/21-- With travel and gatherings restricted at the time of death due to the Covid pandemic, interment is postponed until a future date at Brighton Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Brighton, MI.**
