Obituary of Darlene Ann La Grange

VLa Grange, Darlene Ann (Lorence) of Brooklyn Park, MN went peaceful to heaven on December 5, 2020 due to complications with Covid-19 and Alzheimer's. She is preceded in death by husband Frank La Grange Jr, son Frank La Grange III, Doris Kramer (sister) and parents. Darlene is survived by Steve Lorence (brother), daughters Patricia Kelsey, Susan Farr (Dan), Nancy Braaten (Dale), Katherine Kennedy (Tom) and sons William La Grange (Amy), Paul La Grange (Karen), 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Darlene was born April 9, 1928 in Hutchinson, MN. She graduated from Saint Mary's school of Nursing in Rochester, 1950. She enjoyed working with Dr. Charles Mayo. Darlene became a Northwest Orient Flight Attendant because she was a nurse. As fate would have it, on a return flight from the Korean War, she met our father whom was a naval officer in the Navy. Later in life after 20 years out of nursing, Darlene returned to her profession at the University of MN. Darlene's platform was Mental Health Issues. She volunteered countless hours with the (NAMI) National Alliance for Mental Illness and received a pin from President George W. Bush for her efforts. She was active at church, St. Alphonsus for 30 plus years. In addition, Darlene loved the arts and was a great artist. Celebration of Darlene's life will be held at a later date when it's safe for friends and family to gather. Memorials to Alzheimer's association and NAMI preferred.
