Karlsgodt, Mary Ellen (Stahara).  

July 16, 1925-November 25, 2020

Mary Ellen, 95, died in the afternoon of November 25, 2020 in Brainerd, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Herman Karlsgodt; mother Ellen Stanton; father John Stahara; sister and brother-in-law Marvel and Phil Bacon; sisters- and brothers-in-law Hilda and Ole Kringstad, Alfhild and Al Peterson; and many dear friends, especially life-long friends Arlene and Theodore Rudser and Evelyn and Ed Lewis.

Mary Ellen eloped with Herman January 25, 1947 to Watertown, South Dakota in a double wedding ceremony with Ted and Arlene. This fun story is known by many and continues to be shared fondly. The couples lived and and shared fun times in the same neighborhoods on Eagle Lake which is now Maple Grove, Brooklyn Center living across the street from Earle Brown Elementary School, and also in the lake country near Mora, MN.

Mary Ellen and Herman danced with the Norrona Leikarring Norwegian dancers performing at summer Sambands and in Norway on a few occasions. She had many creative interests working with her hands; Hardanger needlework, knitting, crocheting, sewing and painting were a few of her hobbies. She was never afraid to speak her mind or share her opinions.

She is survived by son Marty (Janet) Karlsgodt; daughter Wendy (Jack) Antolak; 6 grandchildren Karl (Emily) Antolak, Helena (John) Lease, Scott Antolak, LeaAnn Karlsgodt, Erin (CJ) Hunnicutt, Mason Karlsgodt; 5 great grandchildren Genevieve, John and Elena Lease and Lincoln and Adelyne Hunnicutt. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and ‘bonus’ children.

Arrangements are with the Cremation Society of Minnesota. A private Innurnment will be before Christmas.
