Obituary of Rita Alma Pietruszewski

Rita Alma Pietruszewski passed away December 5, 2020 at Martin Luther Care Center at the age of 98.  Rita was born in St. Cloud, MN on March 26, 1922 and moved to the twin Cities in the early 1940’s where she resided for nearly 80 years.

Preceded in death by her parents John and Rose Kampa and her siblings, Arnold (Marie) Kampa,  Mary (Robert)  Slaby, Margaret (Jack) Pilgram, and her great granddaughter Angel Albert. Survived by daughter Karen (Gary)Freeman, Granddaughters Gayle Albert, Sheri Freeman, Stacy (Robert) Estoll. Great Granddaughters, Kendelle Albert, Amanda, Abby, Andrea and Alexandria Cooper,  Hannah, Kaitlyn and Paige Estoll, and Sister-in-law Loretta Pietruszewski.  Also many nieces and nephews.

Rita will forever be remembered for her smiling personality, watching the MN Twins play baseball, her decorative calendars she made for family every year and her love of playing bingo.

Rita and her then husband, Fabian, owned a few local businesses in the West St. Paul area. Hillside Grocery, Silvertop Drive-in and North Star Lanes. She then went on to work for many years at  Snyder Bros Drug Store in Signal Hills  where she retired after many years.

The family would like to send a special thanks to  Sue Sasse, Joyce Heither and Carol Ashwood for the love they extended to their Aunt Rita over the years.  She enjoyed and cherished the many holidays that they spent together and the weekend visits to help with shopping and cleaning.

Catholic Funeral Mass Thursday 5/13 11 am at St Joseph Catholic church 1154 Seminole Ave, St Paul, MN visitation prior to service at 10:30. Burial will be Friday 5/14 at 11am at Calvary Cemetery intersection of Cooper and 22nd Street in St Cloud, MN.

Due to Covid Restrictions a funeral lunch will not be provided but family will be gathering together to enjoy lunch at Joseph’s Grill 140 Wabasha St S, St. Paul after the Church on Thursday. Please feel free to come and join us.  RSVP by text to 630-709-9182
