Obituary of Robert Joseph Bergman

Robert Joseph Bergman, age 88, of Hermantown, MN formerly of Lakeville, MN passed away on December 7, 2020 in Duluth MN. He was born on Sept 24, 1932 to Joseph Bergman and Evelyn (Roley) in Cloquet, MN. He was the oldest of 3 children. He graduated in 1950 from Johnson High School, St Paul MN. Most of his employment years were spent in the field of construction until he retired at the age of 65.

On Dec 28, 1963, he married Laurabelle Abrams of Bloomer, WI. He was blessed with two children Ruth Ann Bergman, and Ken Bergman. Robert was blessed once again with two grandsons Patrick Hanych, and Dylan Bergman.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid TV watcher. He loved the old classic movies on TCM and sports. He also enjoyed fishing and birdwatching.

He spent most of his adult life in the Twin Cities and at the age of 85 came back up to the Northland, to live the rest of his years.

Survived by daughter, RuthAnn Bergman of Hopkins MN; son, Kenneth Joseph Bergman (wife Rachel) of Duluth; grandsons, Patrick James Hanych of Shippensburg, PA, Dylan Bergman of Duluth; brother, Richard Bergman of Carlton (wife Kathy); sister, Joan Lingren of Cloquet, and many friends

Preceded by wife, Laurabelle, his father Joseph and his mother, Evelyn in death.

He made many friends at Edgewood Assisted Living, and had many happy moments there. His sense of humor and animated personality will be missed by family and friends.  The family would like to thank all of the employees at Edgewood for the wonderful care Bob was given while living there and thank you for the team at Chris Jensen and St. Croix Hospice for their kindness and care in Bob’s final days.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 25 at 3:00 p.m. with a Visitation one hour prior at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Duluth, 4100 Grand Ave.
