Obituary of My Van Ho

My Van Ho, 83, of Duluth, MN died on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Golden Oaks-Proctor Assisted Living.

My was born on October 3, 1937 in Sai Gon, South Vietnam. He had a difficult childhood, stopping school early to help his family. My had several jobs. He became a talented panel painter for the city’s cinema/theater and worked in a photography shop. He joined the VN-US Air Force at a young age and worked there until the last days of the Vietnam War. He was interned by the communists in a re-education camp for a short period of time.

My married Thay Thi Ha and had two children, Helen and Dat. My worked diligently to support his family and ensured they received and valued their education. My and his family left Vietnam in May of 1988 and stayed in Thailand and Philipine camps while awaiting placement in the U.S. My and family arrived in Duluth, MN in September 1988. He believed in hard work and possessed a gentle and generous soul. He loved cooking, walking, and spending time with friends & family.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Thay Ha; his two children, Helen Ho Ojard (husband, Patrick E. Ojard) of Two Harbors, MN & Dat Lee (wife, Kristi Lee) of South Range, WI, and two grandchildren, Edward Ho Ojard & Macy Van Lee; two siblings, Hoang Tran of Ho Chi Minh, South Vietnam & Binh Phan of Waterford, MI.

My’s family would like to thank the Moments Hospice nurses and Golden Oaks-Proctor staff for their care over the years.
