Obituary of Kurt Bechthold
Kurt James Bechthold, age 51, of Brooklyn Park, died peacefully on Monday, November, 16th, 2020, from cancer. Born in 1969 to Karen and James Bechthold in River Falls, WI, Kurt was a graduate of Hopkins High School and the University of Minnesota, majoring in Electrical Engineering.
Kurt knew he wanted to be an electrical engineer by 9th grade. He excelled in math and science. After college he started his career with Forward Technology, then worked at MGS. Eventually he was employed by Daikin Applied, a global leader in HVAC & R systems, where he worked for the past 10 years. At Daikin, he achieved the highest technical level of Principal Software Engineer. He excelled when tasked with solving software problems throughout the Daikin Global organization.
Kurt was a devoted father. He always worked very hard to provide for his two daughters, Sarah and Emily. Kurt was not a man of many words, but often talked about his daughters at work, and with friends. His daughters, and the rest of his family, were always the most important things to him. Kurt was known as a person who would never turn anyone away, when they came to him for help. He was accepting, kind, honest, innovative, playful, and a loyal friend.
Kurt was a passionate Wild, Vikings, and Gopher sports fan. Every year he had high hopes for a championship team. His imagination was sparked in 1977 when he saw Star Wars for the first time. His adoration for Star Wars and sci-fi continued throughout his life. At home, he was an avid gamer and enjoyed spending time with his two German Shepherds, Winston and Daisy.
Kurt is survived by his daughters: Sarah Bechthold and Emily Bechthold, his parents: James and Karen, his sisters Melissa Bechthold, Kim (Brian) Delgado, his nephew Bennett, and niece Sophia.
Due to COVID, we are planning a celebration of his life in the spring of 2021. Details will be posted here and on Kurt’s Caring Bridge site: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kbechthold
