Obituary of Charles F. Zylka

Charles F. Zylka 81, born to Floyd B. and EllaMae V. Zylka on November 28, 1938, died November 27, 2020 from Mantle Cell Lymphoma, with his wife by his side.

Chuck, as he was known to his friends, graduated from St. Jean’s high school in 1958. After graduation, he joined the Minnesota Air National Guard, 148th Fighter Wing. Chuck retired from the Air Guard after 35 years of service, as a Master Sergeant E7, and received many awards and certificates for outstanding service. Chuck has a younger brother Raymond, and sister Nona Mae.

He enjoyed motorcycles and was president of Lemans America: the national organization of Suzuki owners, for 6 years. He later rode Harley Davidsons. He and Christine rode from Minnesota to Texas, Colorado, and mostly the upper Midwest.

Chuck was passionate about cars. Race cars, street rods, and old classic cars, he loved them all. His favorite NASCAR drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jimmie Johnson.

Chuck married Christine Tiziani in 1961. They had four children, Laurie, Darryl, Dawn (Thomas), and Charyl (Ed); seven grandchildren, Derek (Ashley), Russell (Shandra), Jeff (Sophia), Justin (Rachel), Taylor, Jaclyn (Miguel) and Travis; and five great-grandchildren, Farah, Maverick, Talon, Samara, and Layla.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, sister, and great grandchild Travis.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Christine; children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother, Ray and his family.

The family would like to thank Essentia Hospice Home care, and specifically R.N. Steve Volkman, whom Chuck affectionately called “Dr. Steve”, for his tremendous care and compassion.

Per Chuck’s request, no services will be held.
