Obituary of Cheryl Scianni

Cheryl Scianni, age 61, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 26, 2020 at St Luke’s Hospital after losing her battle with kidney cancer.

Cheryl was born and raised in Duluth, MN by Rodney and Marilyn Hamilton. 

She graduated from Denfeld high school in 1977 and UMD with a teaching degree. She had a passion for teaching and worked for ISD 709 for 35 years where she taught kindergarten. She started her teaching career at Congdon Elementary, and Nettleton. She retired from Lakewood elementary in 2018. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, eating out, and spending time with family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her smile was contagious and could light up a room. She touched the hearts of many people and will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father Gerald Scianni and stepfather Rodney Hamilton. Cheryl is survived by her mother Marilyn Hamilton; daughters Rebecca (Scott) Gregg and Melissa (Nicholas) Kaneski; grandchildren Carter, Keegan, Preston, Cailyn, Brittan, Amity, Elle, and Ryker; special friend/caregiver Deryn Louma; life long friend Luanne McMillan; furry friend (Anne); and her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.

A drive-up service will be held on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Forest Hill cemetery in Duluth, MN. (Please remain in car, with engine off during service. Thank you.)
