Obituary of Bradly Steven Harrison
Bradly Steven Harrison passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020, from an aggressive form of cancer. He was 48.
Brad was born on June 20, 1972 in Fairfield, California to Steve and Diane (Bornfleth) Harrison. He grew up in Austin, Minnesota and graduated from Austin High School in 1990. He grew up playing hockey, skateboarding, and laughing with (and at) his friends. He worked for a brief time at Hormel before taking classes to become a Microcomputer Support and Network Analyst at St. Cloud Technical and Community College. He worked for Netgain and Marco.
Brad met Beth (Redden) Harrison at work at Coborn's while in college and quickly fell in love with her and her young daughter, Makayla Rauer. Brad and Beth were married in an intimate backyard ceremony in Foley, MN on June 25, 2011. Brad and Beth had two more children together. Ailee Mae Harrison was born on November 11, 2009 and Beckham Bradly Harrison was born on July 5, 2011. Brad loved being a Dad and poured himself into parenting. On any given day you could find him making homemade waffles, building Legos, and helping with homework. He was incredibly patient with his kids and they should never doubt his love. Brad shared his love for hockey with his kids and helped to coach their teams. He spent countless hours building and maintaining a hockey rink in the backyard for his, and the neighborhood, kids. Brad and Beth loved spending time outside, working together on home projects, and attending concerts all over the country.
Brad was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma primary to the prostate in January of 2020. In an effort to live life to its fullest, he and his family moved their camper to Lake Osakis for the summer. While in pretty obvious pain and suffering from the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, he committed to playing with his kids, friends, and extended family. He played in the pool, jumped off the dock and swam in the lake, and learned the art of smoking meat. He sat by the fire and talked with those he loved.
Brad is survived by his wife, Beth (Redden) Harrison and kids Makayla Rauer, Ailee Harrison, and Beckham Harrison; his parents, Steve and Diane (Bornfleth) Harrison; his sister, Chris Harrison Schmit, Grant Schmit and their kids Collin and Cameron; his mother and father in-law, Dwight and Arlys (Luikens) Redden; brother in law, Derek (Carrie) Redden and their kids Dorothy and Elvin, and Jennifer Redden and her son, Dominic. Brad is preceded in death by his grandparents Richard and Ethel Harrison and Allen and Dorothy Bornfleth.
A memorial service will be held at Henry’s Catering on Saturday, November 21st from 1-4 in Foley, MN. Brad’s body will be cremated and the ashes buried at Cedar City Cemetery in Austin, MN with a graveside service on a future date. The family prefers memorials to help pay for medical expenses.
