Obituary of Marsha Ann Van Vorst

 

Marsha Ann (Leak) Van Vorst age 70, of Burnsville, Mn passed away at the J.A. Wedum Hospice home in Brooklyn Park and went to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 5th, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Amongst other health conditions, she ultimately passed away due to congestive heart failure. 

Marsha was born on Monday, August 7th, 1950 at St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis. She was the youngest of 3 born to Voyle Edward Leak and Lillie Elizabeth (Noren) Leak. 

She grew up in the Spring Lake Park/Mounds View area and attended Red Oak Elementary, Sunnyside and Edgewood Junior High Schools.

On June 10th, 1972 at 21 years old she was united in marriage in Minneapolis to Kenneth "Kenny" James Remiger (Jim’s Dad).

She then met and married Roger Nile Van Vorst on November 22, 1975 in Minneapolis. They were married for about 4 years.

On February 11th, 1982 her one and only child Jim was born.

Marsha worked in the restaurant industry for many years as a cook and later ran a janitorial franchise business called Jani-King with her son Jim. Marsha enjoyed family get togethers and going to the casino.

Since 1993, for the last 27 years, Marsha and Jim have made Burnsville their home. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Voyle Edward Leak (1997) and Lillie Elizabeth (Noren) Richards (1992), big brother Wayne Voyle Leak (2004) and former husband Roger Nile Van Vorst (1988).

She is survived by her only son Jim David Van Vorst of Burnsville, sister, Cheryle Noreen Krause (Jerry) of Bloomington, life partner, Lynda Pierce of St. Paul, 3 grandchildren, lifelong friend, Hisham Sabouneh of Bloomington, nieces and nephews, Tim Krause (Lisa) of New Prague, Missy Perkins (Allen) of Bloomington, Sheila Barry (Ron) of Bloomington, Jeff Krause (Jessica) of Columbia Heights, Jason Krause (Kari) of Prior Lake, Terri Conway (Mark) of Houston, Texas, Wayne Leak Jr. of Blaine, Jen Lyman (Jason) of Cambridge as well as all of their families. 

Funeral Service will be Sunday, November 15th at 1:00pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, Mn.
