Obituary of Joyce Eileen Franchett

On Sunday November 1st, 2020, Joyce Eileen (Garver) Franchett, loving wife of Gene Franchett and mother of four children, completed her journey here on Earth. She now enjoys eternity in Heaven. Joyce passed away peacefully in her sleep of Mesothelioma.

Joyce was born on July 22nd, 1930 in Kenosha, WI to Fred and Louise (Christoff) Garver. She married William Aulik in 1953 and raised 4 boys, Craig, Mark, Gary and David.

At 53 years old, Joyce enrolled at St. Katherine’s University in St. Paul, MN and graduated 4 years later with a degree in Financial Planning. She ran Franchett Financial Services until she retired in 2007. Her clients enjoyed Joyce’s positive, can-do attitude and attention to detail. She loved helping people manage their finances while preparing for her own retirement.

In 1987 Joyce married Gene Franchett. She and Gene enjoyed the next 33 years together. They enjoyed biking and hiking while at their summer retreat on the Cannon River. Joyce and Gene worked together in support of Jesse Ventura of the Minnesota’s Reform Party. Joyce served as the treasurer for the Reform Party during Ventura’s run for Governor.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Fred, mother, Louise, grandchildren, Alan Aulik and Brooke (Dunning) Aulik and her former husband William Aulik.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Gene, her sons, Craig Aulik (Vicki), Mark Aulik, Gary Aulik (Sarah Michielson), David Aulik (Nicole), Diane (Aulik) Dunning, Laura (Aulik) Cich, her grandchildren, William Aulik, Tom Aulik, Rose Aulik, Sarah Aulik, Michael (Gage) Aulik, Jordan Aulik, Margot Aulik, Eva, Olivia and Chase Michielson and great-grandchildren, Ken and Eleanor Aulik. Joyce is also survived by Gene’s 6 children, Mark Franchett (Sonja), Marie Franchett (Paul), Lisa Franchett (Bamba), Thomas Franchett (Nancy), Michele Franchett , Andrea Franchett (Michael), their families, and countless friends and associates that will sorely miss her.

The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers that provided thoughtful services to Joyce over the past years. They have all been so great and we are very grateful for their help.

Per Joyce’s request, there will be a private service. Due to Covid, the service will be held at a future date.
