Obituary of Alice Juanita Frank

Alice Juanita (Hanaw) Frank -

On October 30, 2020, Alice “Allie” Juanita (Hanaw) Frank, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 81.

Allie was born on January 13, 1939 in New Orleans, LA to Justin and Alice (Burkenroad) Hanaw.

On February 14, 1960, she married Lee S. Frank, and together they raised three children, a son, Kenny, and two daughters, Debbi (McGovern) and Lisa (Rasmussen).

Allie and Lee had a passion for miniatures and began collecting them in the late 1960’s. They began to attend conventions and shows all around the country in the late 1970’s and attended their first National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME) Regional Convention in 1983. They began to build room boxes to display their growing collection of 1/12th scale furniture, musical instruments, and books. Two of their creations, the “Library Parlor” and “Musical Reflections” were featured in the Nutshell News and Miniatures Showcase magazines. Both room boxes were also exhibited in New York City, Atlanta, and New Orleans. In 1989, Allie and Lee published a 550-page hard cover book containing the hallmarks and other detailed information on more than 880 miniature artisans from around the world. When she wasn’t working with the miniature collection, Allie also enjoyed needle point and other craft projects.

Allie was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her father Justin, her mother Alice, and her brother Jerry Hanaw. She is survived by her three children, Kenny, Debbi, and Lisa, eleven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
