Obituary of Terry Ernest Kaldahl

Terry Ernest Kaldahl age 82, of Duluth, passed away at home Thursday, October 29, 2020.

“I plan no formal service, so this obit will have to tell some of the things I did while on this Earth.

I was born on June 4th, 1938 to Ernest and Edna Kaldahl. They named me Terry Ernest and I attended Riverside Elementary and Morgan Park Junior and Senior High School graduating in 1956.

After high school, I spent two years in the U.S. Army Paratroopers completing peacetime jumps. After a short stint with U.S. Steel, I began work with North Central Airlines as a ticket agent, while at the same time working at Storey Taxidermy. I was promoted to district sales rep and moved to Rapid City SD to cover North and South Dakota.

During the next two years, I learned to fly and was hired in May of 1966 as a pilot. I progressed from a DC-3 first officer to a DC-9 captain.

I had five sons, Dean, Jon, Jim, Rick, and Ryan and 11 grandchildren.

During my lifetime, I enjoyed playing the saxophone, playing hockey, oil painting, fishing and hunting bird and big game with a gun and bow. As a pilot, I could commute to my home base to fly my trips, so I had the opportunity to live in many places giving me a wide choice of environments.

I had an older sister Mary Lou and have a younger sister Judy. The love of my life was Linda Ann Wales who was a flight attendant on many of my trips. She died of breast cancer after many wonderful years of marriage.

One of the best memories of our time together was a three week trip to New Zealand among many others. During one’s time on Earth, many decisions must be made. Some of them turn out good and some bad. I made some of each. For those of you reading this and knew me, for the most part we enjoyed each other’s company but not all. But hey, that’s life, isn’t it? Goodbye all, Terry.”
