Obituary of Dorlene Nelson
Dorlene “Pat” Nelson (Martis) 84, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, 10-9-20.
Pat is survived by Jim, her husband of 61 years, daughters Lisa (Troy) Nelson-Nemeth, Bette (Rich) Nelson-Midtlyng and Amy Nelson (fiancé Scott). Grandchildren Janie (fiancé James), Jacob(Suzanne), Travis (McKenzie), Maria and great granddaughter Olivia and her mother Kelli.
Pat grew up on “the farm” outside of Isle, Mn. After graduating she enjoyed taking trips with her girlfriends. She continued her adventures after marrying, by spending her vacations traveling and camping with her husband, daughters and grandchildren as well as with the Girl Scouts during her many years as a leader.
Following her retirement from P&G Pat spent her summers at her beloved cabin where you could find her out in her garden, fishing on the lake and hitting the local garage sales or antique shops.
Pat loved cooking and baking for her family and many friends especially at Christmas and was known for her Swedish rice pudding. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, scrap booking, jig saw puzzles, was an avid reader and was always up for a game of Cribbage or Rummy.
Pat loved having animals around as was evident by the countless numbers of farm animals, fish, turtles, gerbils, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, cats and dogs that have been apart of her life through the years.
Pat will be greatly missed by her family, their pets and her friends of many years as well as her newly found family she was able to locate through Ancestry.
A private memorial will be held for the immediate family at 11:00am at the Grove Church in Maple Grove on Thursday October 22, 2020. Her ashes will be spread at her beloved cabin at a later date, yet to be determined.
