Obituary of Richard John Thompson

Richard John Thompson of Burnsville, MN, (83), passed away on October 5, 2020 with his wife, Ruth, of 62 years by his side. Richard was born on January 11, 1937 in Ordale Township, MN.

He and Ruth moved to Lakeville and raised their 5 kids. As they got closer to retirement, they purchased a hobby farm in Evanville, MN, and enjoyed the quite of country life. They moved back to Burnsville 2016, when he was diagnosed with Liver Cancer and COPD to be closer to his children and grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Agnes Thompson; daughter, Janet Boland; and son, Gerald Thompson; Siblings, Eugene Thompson and Judy Hench.

Survived by his wife, Ruth (McAdrell) Thompson; children, Barbara (Kevin) Rux, Dennis Thompson, and Connie (Lex) Cralley. Siblings, Margaret Leidal, Robert (Joanne) Thompson, Joan (Larry) Steeves, Jerome Thompson, Lynn Leegard, MaryAnn (Tom) Berryman, Marcia Barrett and Jeffery (Bonnie) Thompson; sister-in-laws, Ida (Richard) Breitkreutz, Ella (Mike) Gilbert; and brother-in-law Thomas (Patty) McArdell. 12 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and interment will take place sometime in 2021 when it’s safer for us all to be together and pay our final respects to Richard.
