Obituary of Barbara Ann Kienzle

Barbara Ann Kienzle passed away on September 19, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born September 11, 1936 in Liscomb, Iowa to Carl and Laura Denbow. She grew up on a farm in Gladbrook, Iowa. On September 3, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Kienzle, and they began their 64 year journey together. They moved to Duluth to start their lives and raised four children. Barb was active in the Women’s Circle at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of Apache Wells Community Church, Mesa, AZ.

She enjoyed the outdoors, crafts, and camping…especially in the BWCA. She wintered in Mesa for many years with her husband. An Alaskan cruise was especially memorable. Her ultimate joy was spending time with her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert and sisters Margaret and Edith. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband Richard; children Richard (Nancy), Scott (Tracy), Cindy Passet, John (Tina); sister Lois Gannon, brother Richard (Jolene) Denbow, and sister-in-law Nancy Kienzle; 10 grandchildren Jenny, Nikki (Nick Kaplan), Heather, Holly, Tim (Keely), Jason, Laura, Erin, Summer and Sophia; five great grandchildren Wrenn, Lila, Madden, Brayden, and Amirah; and many nieces and nephews; and very special friends Jay and Carolyn Jones of Mesa.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital for their compassionate care over the years. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.
