Obituary of Dale L Dennie

Dale L. Dennie, age 97 of Wrenshall, MN passed away Sunday, September 6th, 2020. He was born January 20, 1923 in Duluth to Joseph A. and Marie (Fechner) Dennie. Dale graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1943 and entered the US Navy where he served on an LSM for three years in the South Pacific during WWII and took part in the Invasion of Iwo Jima. He married Dolores Habhegger on July 24th, 1945 at St. John’s Church in Wrenshall. Dale worked at Potlatch for five years before going to Conoco Oil Refinery in Wrenshall, where he retired after 28 years of service. He was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Wrenshall.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores; daughter, Claudia Hackensmith; grandson, David Adkins; and his brothers, Duane, Bernard and David Dennie. He is survived by his children, Susanne Brigan and Mitchell (Colleen) Dennie; grandchildren, Sarah Adkins Clark, Chris, Philip and Drew Dennie, and Raymond Curry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at Silverbrook Cemetery in Wrenshall. Military Honors will be presented by the Nicholson-Sellgren VFW Post 2962 Honor Guard.
