Obituary of Marie Bernadette Lundberg
On September 4, 2020, Marie Lundberg passed from our world to the next. Marie was born on the family farm in Rogers, MN on August 15, 1927 to George and Emily Harves. She was raised in Rogers and started school speaking only German. In 1946 she graduated from Elk River High School. Marie was an incredible woman with a wicked sense of humor, a passion for her family, cooking, and growing her tomatoes. She enjoyed playing pull tabs, the occasional glass of wine (or Bloody Mary's with a beer chase, of course), and visiting with family and friends. She loved dancing, reading, quilting, and going for drives. Being a true Anokan, she loved Halloween and all the associated annual festivities.
Marie loved her four children, Les, Roxie, Cindy, and Terri. Les and his dogs will miss watching the Wheel of Fortune with mom and reading her the Sunday obituaries (she loved a good funeral!) Roxie will miss Mom's beautiful face, her smile, and soft hands. Terri will miss their Tuesday chat line which morphed into a daily phone call on Terri's drive home from work.
Her granddaughters, Monica and Mandy, will miss traveling to Minnesota to visit their Granny and the obligatory outing to Serum's. Her great grandchildren will miss her animated stories and the various treasures they were given.
We are all sad there will be no final resolution to the question of who is truly the Best One. Each of us will carry on her memory believing in our hearts that "I am" the one who holds the title.
Marie will be greatly missed by her son Les Fischer, daughters Roxie Fischer, and Terri (David) Haler, granddaughters Monica (Jason) Melchior, and Mandy (Dave) Charpentier, great grandchildren Aubree, Ella, and Adam (aka Andy) Melchior, Henry (aka Hank) and Sarah Charpentier, sister Verena Lorentson, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husbands Lester Fischer, Sr., Kenneth Lundberg, special companion Joe Beek, beloved daughter Cindy, several brothers and sisters, and special granddog, Vada Lou.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service will be held October 17, 2020 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, Brooklyn Park Chapel.
A Public Celebration of Marie's Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 - 4:00 PM at the Coon Rapids VFW, 1919 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN.
In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree, grow some tomatoes, buy a bird feeder, feed the squirrels, or donate to your local humane society.
