Obituary of Aileen Janet Piering

Aileen Janet Piering, 95, passed away September 14th, 2020 in her home with her daughters by her side.

Aileen was born March 9th, 1925, in Duluth, to Saul and Rose Landstrom. She grew up in Duluth and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1943. She married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Piering October 15th, 1949. Together they raised two daughters.

Aileen worked at JC Penny’s and retired with 40 years of service. In retirement she became a foster grandparent for 15 years at Laura MacArthur School. She made many friends there and loved working with the kids. Her time spent at school was time she truly cherished.

She enjoyed spending summers at her cabin and always looked forward to cabin season. She was an avid reader, a beautiful knitter and loved doing crossword puzzles.

Aileen will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Saul and Rose Landstrom; and husband, Douglas Piering.

She is survived by daughters, Pam (Terry) Bjorklund and Periann (Bruce) Iverson; as well as her very special friend, Laurie.
