Aunt Erma gave me a book for my Confirmation, The Seasons of Life, which had a tree on the cover. A memorial tree seems most appropriate . Join in honoring their life - plant a memorial tree

Aunt Erma had a profound effect on my life. Most importantly, she introduced her brother-in-law Bill Belz to my mother Peggy Smart. They got married three months later. Erma and Mom knew each other as kids through Washington County 4-H activities but became best friends when they both attended Ag School at the University of Minnesota. They both graduated in 1940 and then attended another year. Aunt Erma, Uncle Bob and kids were always close by while I was growing up. Aunt Erma was my godmother, piano teacher, and mentor. I have always remembered a lesson she gave at some retreat-type event that "we are all cogs in the wheel of life". I always enjoyed her writings, too. She lived a good life and will be greatly missed.
