Obituary of Patricia Irene Nordin
Patricia Irene Nordin (O’Connell) of Silver Bay, Minn., passed away peacefully on August 22, 2020 in amazing hospice care at Carefree Living. She was born November 21, 1931 in Lead, SD. She was the youngest of 10 children.
Pat went to Gustavus in St. Peter, Minn., for nursing and did training at Bethesda in St. Paul, Minn. She met the love of her life, Roland “Red” Nordin, in Moose Lake, Minn., during a nursing rotation there. They married in 1952 in Mahtowa, Minn. They lived on a farm outside Barnum, Minn., for several years before settling in 1956, in Silver Bay, Minn., where they were beloved members of the community for over 60 years.
Together, Pat and Red raised four children, Kathy Lynse, Cheryl Nordin, Diane Erdahl, and Daniel Nordin. Pat was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Red Nordin, her parents, Martin and Alice O’Connell, her daughter, Cheryl, and many brothers and sisters.
Pat was a one of a kind—spirited, generous, kind, strong, hilarious, loyal, and fun. She was a treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend; a nurse, active at Sychar Lutheran Church, a gardener, a golfer, a bridge player, an enthusiastic dancer, a quilter, a sports fan, and a wonderful conversationalist. She made those around her laugh and feel loved, and she will be very missed.
The family hopes to plan a memorial in the spring of 2021.
