Obituary of Galen Gustafson

On August 12th, 2020 at age 91, Gus passed into his Heavenly Father’s arms. He had a rich and satisfying life which began when he was drafted by the Army in 1950. He was sent to fight on the front lines in the Korean War. While serving, he earned the Bronze Star for his heroism and courage saving lives. We are so proud of him! After returning home he held a highly successful, 30-year career with the US Postal Service, where he met Molly on several occasions. In his “spare” time Gus enjoyed repairing body work on cars and developed a love for them. He spent over 50 years buying and selling cars for family and friends. Because of his passion, fun and engaging personality he became a “regular” at Manheim Auctions. Molly and Gus shared a full life together over 36 years. They enjoyed traveling, hiking, playing tennis, playing dominoes with friends in Florida, to name a few.

Gus is survived by his loving and caring wife Molly, sons Kim (Gina) and Scott, bonus children Deb (Kevin), David, six amazing grandchildren Ben, Rachel, Jeremy, Jamie, Luke, and Alex. Six adored great grandchildren Caitlin, James, twins Lauren and Sophie, Elijah, Payton, beloved nieces, nephews, plus many special neighbors and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Gus on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 at Grace Church Eden Prairie Campus at 11:00 am. Please park by and enter Door 2. Masks and social distancing necessary – a “touchless experience” is provided at Grace Church. A private interment with full Military Honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Grace Church. The Cremation Society of MN Edina 952-924-4100.

We want to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to us during this difficult time. Thanks also to Grace Church and the Cremation Society of MN for their help, guidance, and patience as we navigated all the necessary details. May God Bless and Keep You!

Molly and the entire Gustafson Family

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” All heaven was rejoicing when Gus got to meet his Savior face to face. We will all miss Gus very much, but we know with certainty that he is with Jesus forever and we rejoice in knowing that God is smiling and saying to him, “well done my good and faithful servant.”
