Obituary of Lindsay Joan Norton
Lindsay Joan (Walsh) Norton was born February 25th 1980 in St. Paul, MN to Deborah Saul and Thomas Walsh. She passed away at home in St. Paul, on Friday, August 21st with her family by her side after a 40-month battle with Cervical Cancer.
She graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall High School in 1998, completed her undergraduate degree in 2002 from Macalester College in St. Paul, and earned a Master’s Degree in Marketing from San Diego State University in 2005. Her professional career included marketing roles with Solatube in Vista, CA, and with Transamerica in St. Paul, MN. She was a Spin and fitness instructor with Defining You Pilates and Fitness in St. Paul, MN.
Lindsay married Brad Norton on June 7, 2013. On August 11, 2015 they welcomed their only child, Finnegan James Norton to the world.
A self-described introvert, Lindsay had an army of loyal friends to whom she committed her time and energy with intimacy and depth, mostly in small groups. Her charisma and natural charm made her easy to like, and she became a reciprocal counselor/life coach/confidant for many.
She loved her family & adored her friends. Her list of dislikes was short…Minnesota winters and poorly formatted PowerPoints. Her likes were abundant, mostly simple, and as incongruent, whimsical and light-hearted as her personality; cereal, St. Paul, bad television, conversations and games with Finn, trashy magazines, Las Vegas (with TJ), snarky memes, spending time with her family, Minnesota Vikings, being a Spin instructor, planning Spin classes (she was a closet DJ), environmental conservation, hip hop, Remix Popcorn, Café Latte, Southern California weather, pom frites at Meritage, chocolate, small portions of lots of foods, love letters, being surprised, Hawkeye Basketball, planning just about anything, action movies, kindness, and the never-ending search for the “perfect” notebook.
Most memories of Lindsay include something she was doing for someone else, or something she did that you would never expect her to do. Although introverted, she was the one who always took the dare. She was kind, thoughtful, intelligent, and beautiful inside and out.
Lindsay was preceded in death by her grandparents William Saul and Ed & Mary Walsh. She is survived by her husband Brad Norton, son Finnegan Norton, grandmother Martha Saul, mother Deborah Saul, father Thomas Walsh and his wife Sidney Scott, her brother (and champion) TJ and his wife Katie, nieces Lyla and Charlotte, sister Isabelle, brother Patrick, brother Michael and his wife Lindsay, sister Ali and her husband Greg, nephews Nash and Jack, best friend and cousin Shaun, and many lovely aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
