Obituary of Carol Schmitz

Carol Schmitz, 80 Duluth, died peacefully Sunday, May 3 surrounded by family. Carol was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarice (Hovde) Hughes and Harold Hughes; daughter, Debra (Schmitz) Reilly; sister, Joyce Helland; brother, Harold (Sonny) Hughes, brother, Dale Hughes; and her significant other of 37 years, Ken Gunderson.

Carol was survived by daughter Mary (Schmitz) Peterson (Mark); son Michael Schmitz (LuAnn); sister Shirley Sisto (Robert), sister Bonnie Norlander (Ken); and brother James Hughes. Carol had seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 very special adopted grandchildren, Langley Klinga, Mya Rice, Rachel Klassen and Aaron Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held.
