Obituary of Robert Stephen Welsh

Welsh, Robert Stephen "Steve" age 81, of Minneapolis/St. Anthony Village, passed away at home on Aug. 9, 2020. Preceded in death by wife Beverly M. Welsh (Hill), he will be deeply missed by his sons Dan (Beth), Jason; nieces Cory Hill and Lisa DeMars and their families; and many dear friends. Steve attended Marshall High School, Mpls, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and retired from Soo Line Railroad as yardmaster. He's remembered fondly for his wit and sass, his love of poetry, the north woods, fishing, bird hunting and his expert rock hounding skills. An avid sports fan, particularly of local high school and college teams, he rarely missed seeing or listening to a game. He was always pleased by a "long view" and a well-crafted denouement. A memorial event will be held when we can more safely gather. Details to be published at a later date. Donations in Steve's name preferred to Twin Cities PBS.
