Obituary of Russell Lee Johnson
Russell Lee "Big Russ" Johnson, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home August 11, 2020, in Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley (Guse) Johnson. He is survived by his father, Harold, sisters; Diane (Jim) Theusch, Julie Bowland, brothers; Mark (Lori) Johnson, Russell Dean (Teresa) Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.
Russell was born in Long Prairie; he grew up in Rose City and attended school in Parkers Prairie. After graduating he moved to Minneapolis where he worked construction as a union laborer. He chose to live his life as he defined it; that is to say, a little on the wild side. He was an avid sports fan and was known to wager a dollar or two on his Vikings. He enjoyed a good game of cards at "Big John's”, partying with his friends and attending family gatherings where he never left without a care package. Later in life he suffered a disabling stroke that slowed him down but didn't detract from his daily viewing of his favorite daytime TV show "The Price is Right.”
Due to COVID restrictions a private service will be held. Internment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Eagle Bend, MN.
