Obituary of Delmar Robert Stankey

Delmar Robert Stankey, 85, passed away on Monday, August 10 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Del was born in Mankato, MN on July 24, 1935 to Arthur and Selma Stankey. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1953.  He then attended Mankato VoTech and joined the US Army (1955-56). Del worked as a carpenter for various companies before becoming self-employed.  In 1985 he became employed by the State of MN and worked at both the Red Wing Correctional Facility and Moose Lake Prison where he retired. Del was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing.

Del is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynda (Marshall), son Scott (Joann) and daughter Stacie. Del is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rueben (Alyce), Marvin (Dawn) and Alvin, and sisters Evelyn Herman, Helen Kirby, Grace, Alice (Bud) Beatty and Carol (Tom) Stokes, brother-in-law Ken Worden and in-laws Robert and Floren Marshall.  He is survived by brothers Donald (Pat) and Dean (Georgia), sister Sharon Worden, sister-in-law Lois, brother-in-law Lee Marshall and many nieces and nephews. Del was Papa to Brittany Fechner, the late Erik Lewis, and Emily Reich.

Del was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 54.
