Corinne LaFave

Obituary of Corinne Westerlund LaFave

Corinne Westerlund LaFave, 80, of Duluth, passed away peacefully the morning of August 5, 2020 at Viewcrest Health Center. She was loved by many.

She was born on November 3, 1939, grew up on the west side of Duluth, and graduated from Morgan Park High School. Growing up she loved ice skating, roller skating, singing, and theater.

Corinne was an intelligent woman who had a number of administrative jobs throughout her working career; however, she was most proud of being the word processing supervisor for the City of Duluth, taking that task from the ground up.

She married her high school sweetheart, Michael C. LaFave, in 1957 and enjoyed 63 years of marriage until his death a few months ago. They liked to travel and see the sites of the U.S., they were big Green Bay Packer fans, she liked to do puzzles of any kind, number, word, and jigsaw, along with playing scrabble; and they enjoyed spending time with family.

Corinne was preceded in death by Vernon Westerlund (father), Constance Sequin (mother), Lloyd Westerlund and Bruce Westerlund (brothers), Leone McLeod (sister), and her husband Michael.

She is survived by four daughters, Bernadette LaFave, Michelle (Ron) Reedy, Lisa (Greg) Cross of Duluth; Stephanie LaFave of Eden Prairie, MN. Also survived by brothers, Denny Melin and Leo (Sally) Sequin of Duluth, Harley (Judy) Melin of Walker, MN, Kent Westerlund; sisters, Sherry Melin and Shelly Hansen of Minneapolis, MN; eleven grandchildren, four great grandsons, one great granddaughter, and one great grandchild on the way.

There will be a private burial service soon at Union Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
