Obituary of Gloria Marilyn Towns

Gloria Marilyn Towns (Swanson) Age 80 went to her forever home August 1, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital, where she was also born on April 26, 1940.

Gloria grew up in Hermantown where she graduated from high school in 1958. She worked for West Duluth Clinic and was a secretary/ministry assistant at Bethany Community Church for over 49 years. Gloria married Dennis Towns, April 24, 1972 at Bethany Community Church where they both were active lifelong members. She also was an active member of the Fond Du Lac Community Club.

Gloria enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and spending time at the family cabin on Big Lake where she spent many summer hours driving the boat for water skiers.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ada Haugen and father, Arvid; brothers, Sheldon and Larry; sister, Lois; and nephew, Richard.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Dennis of 48 years; son, Kevin (Colleen) and daughter Kelly (Peggy); brother, Allen (Jean) Swanson; sister-in-law, Kim Towns; and many nephews, nieces and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Bethany Community Church Saturday, August 8th for family only due to COVID. Other close friends and family may view the service live on Facebook and later on YouTube through bbcduluth.org. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Minnesota.
