Ronald Alvin Schlichting, 73, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 following a long illness. He was born in St. Paul to Clarence and Julia Schlichting. The family moved to Duluth shortly after where he lived out his life.

Ron graduated from Denfeld High School in 1965. He then attended Duluth Business University. He worked at Shoppers City and at Andrean Paint. He enlisted in the Army in Oct. 3, 1966 and did a tour in Seoul, Korea. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army on Oct. 2nd, 1969, he returned home and was employed by the City of Duluth, Water and Gas Dept, initially as a meter reader and then as an appliance mechanic. Ron was an avid sports fan all of his life – beginning as a “Bat Boy” for the Duluth Dukes, playing baseball and football in high school and passionately following the major league teams going forward. He was a successful fisherman all of his life, including inland lakes, Lake Superior and the St. Louis River. Growing up we often found a kitchen sink full of crappies waiting to be cleaned from the night before.
