Obituary of Vicki Mae Chelgren

Chelgren, Vicki Mae, age 70, passed peacefully at home on July 7, 2020. Preceded in death by parents J. Alfred and Valerie E. (Betty) Chelgren. Survived by husband Stephen Andrewjeski, siblings Valerie (Philip) Rogosheske and Mark Chelgren, nieces Allie (Dawn Crow) Rogosheske and Abigail (Oriel Flores) Rogosheske, grandniece and nephew Augusta and Fitzgerald Crow Rogosheske, and many relatives and friends.

Vicki's exuberance made every gathering of family or community feel like a party, whether arriving fashionably late to Christmas with heaps of lefse or providing the decorations, prizes and cold drinks for the 4th of July festivities at Sand Lake.  She won the Betty Crocker Homemaker Award in high school, and went on to work for the telephone company and the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. Vicki loved artistic sewing projects, creating wedding dresses for her sister and herself. She also enjoyed rescuing battered treasures from back alleys and giving them new life. Other interests included antiques, reading, and collecting rocks and children’s books. She also enjoyed outdoor activities, especially biking, kayaking and skiing.

Vicki was best known for her many good friends and her hearty laugh. She was fun to be with and could always be counted on to help when needed with a smile and creative ideas. Her beloved cats and dogs were members of the family. She will be missed by so many.

This week the world lost a little light and joy.

A virtual funeral will be held in this time of Covid-19, followed by a celebration-of-life family picnic next summer.
