Obituary of Joseph M Hintze

Joseph M. Hintze peacefully passed away at Regions Hospital on July 2nd, 2020 surrounded by family. It was a sudden and shocking loss due to sepsis from a gastrointestinal perforation. He was born on March 3rd, 1961 to Ernest and Rita Hintze in St. Paul, MN.

Joe was a lighthearted, outgoing, and generous person. He always went above and beyond to help others. He was also very intelligent and hardworking. A gifted electrician, mechanic, and general handyman, there was nothing he couldn’t fix or improve via “the Joe Hintze way” aka the only way! He loved learning new things and working on innovative projects (even when they weren’t necessary).

Joe was a proud member of the Local 110 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union and his greatest professional accomplishment was earning the same job previously held by his father as the Communications Officer/head electrician for the Chief Clerk’s Office in the Minnesota House of Representatives. It was his dream job.

Joe was a huge sports fan (Skol Vikes!), vintage car enthusiast, avid bowler, and could never pass up watching a new sci-fi show or movie. He also loved to cook, keep up with new technology (his latest obsession was Snapchat), and was a self-proclaimed “sucker” for watching Hallmark Christmas movies with or without his family members... His greatest passion in the summer months was spending time at Beautiful Lake Edward in Brainerd, MN (new projects! and also family time). What he was proudest of and cherished the most was his family. He was everyone’s cheerleader and greatest supporter.

Joe is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hintze; three children, Bethany Hintze, Anthony Hintze, and Jessica Forsberg; siblings, Regina McGraw, Ernie (Mary), Anna Bremer, Steve (Eileen), Sylvia (Mike) Miller, John (Sharon), Peter (Bonnie), David (Kathy), Bill (Karen); Mother-in-law Vivian Forsberg; Brother-in-law Alan (Karen) Forsberg; Sister-in-law Emily (Chuck) Wenstad; Godchildren Jason Hintze, Ryan Hintze, and Jenny Wenstad; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law Ed Bremer and Deni McGraw.

The family held an intimate funeral ceremony at Guardian Angels Church and are planning a larger Celebration of Life once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Joe was taken from us far too soon. He will be missed and remembered as the loving and goofy Santa he was year-round.

Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Minnesota. Memorials preferred.
