Obituary of Gary Edwin Schnitker

Schnitker, Gary E., age 76, of Edina passed away peacefully on June 9, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. An ENT surgeon for 40 years, he was dedicated to the health and well-being of his Minneapolis and Buffalo patients.

Gary’s passions included refinishing antique wooden boats with his boat buddies, scuba diving dozens of Caribbean reefs, and serving as a racetrack doctor at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. The car he admired most was a 1965 427 Shelby Cobra.

Raised in Toledo, OH, educated at Oberlin College and Temple University Medical School, he was yet a lifelong University of Michigan sports fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Claudia; daughters Karen Schnitker and Laura Schnitker (Mary Switalski); sister Carolyn Ballard; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private family memorial service was held. Memorial donations preferred to Hospice Foundation of America.
