Obituary of Randall Thomas Oakley

Randall “Randy” Thomas Oakley of Solon Springs passed away after a nine month battle with pancreatic cancer on June 8, 2020 at home with his family.

Randy was born in Richland Center, WI to John and Evelyn Oakley on July 24, 1951. He had a keen interest in the Bible. While going to college he met one of Jehovah’s Witnesses who called at his home and began to talk about the Bible with him. She arranged for him to study the Bible with another young man. On November 27, 1971 he got baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Over the years he enjoyed sharing Bible truths with others. He was also active in helping build Kingdom halls in various places. He served as an Elder in the Superior and Solon Springs Congregations these past 40 years. He was loved by many and will be missed.

On December 16, 1972 he married Mary Hill. Together they shared in the ministry activity of Jehovah’s Witnesses. They enjoyed raising four children together. Family was especially important to him. He found great joy in all five of their grandchildren as well. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers and children and fishing with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren loved to go fishing in the summer with grandpa from a very young age.

In 1974 he started learning the carpet cleaning business. In 1976 he established Randy’s Carpet Cleaning. It was satisfying cleaning for customers knowing it made them happy. It was important to clean for them as if it was his own home. Over the years, he cleaned for many of the same customers who then passed his name onto their children and grandchildren. In 2018 he retired turning his business over to his son Jason. Jason continues to carry on in the same tradition.

Randy is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Jessica (Tom) Huehn and their children, Kieran and Jackson, Jason, Julia (Tod) Brown and Rachel (Danny) Anderson and their children, Maggie, Dexter and Zoe. He is also survived by his brothers, Reg Oakley, Jim (Jan) Oakley and sister, Gloria Jovle and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank Dr. Alkaied at St. Luke’s and the cancer center for the loving care and compassion given to Randy.
