Morin (Merta), Janis

Beloved mother of four, grandmother of nine and great grandmother of five. Janis passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2020. Janis was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Cynthia. She was born on November 6, 1930 in Sheboygan Wisconsin to Vince and Edith Merta. She grew up on a farm in Prescott, Wisconsin. She went to many one-room schools through the 8th grade. Her family then moved to River Falls where she graduated High School in 1948. She left for the big city of Minneapolis and went to a business school. Afterwards she was hired by Greyhound Bus Company where she met her husband Erwin Morin. They married in 1953 and had four daughters, Deborah, Claudia, Melanie and Lisa. When the girls were all in school, she went to work for the Belzer Clinic, now The Fairview Clinic Hiawatha, as a Medicare Coordinator and Patient Representative. In 1992, she moved to Eagan where she loved her new home, especially the beautiful pond full of ducks and geese. She retired from her job in 1995 after 27 years and pursued her life long dream of being a singer. She formed a trio, performing at senior centers, nursing homes and private parties. She loved peace and harmony and the simple life. She was famous for her bagels, enjoyed a bingo hall or two, and knew her way around many airports. She loved her family deeply and was loved immensely by them and everyone who knew her. She was beautiful inside and out and will be greatly missed. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org. Celebration of Life Service to be held at Mary, Mother of the Church, Burnsville MN on Saturday June 6th: Visitation is from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. Mass following at 12:00 p.m. Wearing a mask is encouraged. Private family burial.
