Obituary of Dolores Mae Wendling

Dolores Mae Wendling, 90, of Duluth died February 4, 2020 at Edgewood Assisted Living in Hermantown. She was born May 31, 1929 in Cass Lake, MN to Roy and Sadie Ness.

She married Walter Wendling on August 4, 1948. After Moving to Duluth in 1966, she started working at JC Penney in the Plaza in 1967. She retired from JC Penney at the Mall in 1990 as a payroll manager. In retirement she spent winters in Sierra Vista, AZ. She enjoyed her time at their lake place on Cass Lake at Stony Point in the summer. Dolores enjoyed golf, playing cards and having family for dinners as she was an excellent cook and baker. She was a long time member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, LWML and its women’s circles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Vicki Wendling; daughter-in-law, Christine Wendling; brother, Ronald Ness; and sisters, Elaine Utley and Margie Fredrickson.

Dolores was survived by her husband, Walter; sons, Michael (Pamela) Wendling, and Donald (Deborah) Wendling; granddaughters, Michelle, Kathryn, Kristen and Delaine; and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bud Ness and Bob (Sue) Ness.

Her family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers for the loving, compassionate care she received at Edgewood Assisted Living these last two years.

A private family memorial service will take place at Mt. Olive Lutheran on Saturday, June 6th. It will be for family only due to Covid-19. Burial will be at Pine Grove cemetery in Cass Lake. Memorials preferred to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Minnesota.
