Obituary of Janet E. Bailey

Janet “Jan” E. Bailey, age 75, passed away peacefully at Benedictine Living Community, Duluth, MN on May 25, 2020, after her second battle with cancer.  

She was born on September 24, 1944 in Faribault, MN, and graduated in 1962 from Faribault Sr. High School.  Jan moved from Faribault, MN, to Duluth, MN, with her family where she later earned a General Word Processing and Secretary diploma in 1992.  

Jan worked as an office assistant for over 40 years; 20 years at Western Great Lakes Pilots Association, Superior, WI, before retiring in September of 2019.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting/sewing and playing cards with her friends.  Jan had a strong religious faith, and loved spending time in her garden.  She was a wonderful cook and especially enjoyed baking.  Jan was a very caring person and truly loved her family, her children, grandchildren, and dogs.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Inez Minnick. Jan is survived by her children, Michael Bailey of Superior, WI, Patrick (Sheri) Bailey of Apple Valley, MN, and Jennifer (Brian) Holbein of Superior, WI, and six grandchildren-Brenden, William, Zachery, Zoe, Taylor, and Gage. Due to COVID-19 and the Governor’s mandates a private family burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetary, 2516 Woodland Ave, Duluth, MN. Memorials can be sent directly to the family.
