Obituary of Arvid Dixen

Rev. Arvid "Bud" Dixen died on May 20, 2020 at age 89 in Minneapolis. He is survived by his children, Rebecca, Jeffrey, Susan (Jim), and Steven (Heather), step-children, Nate and Kris, and 8 delightful grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by beloved wife, Sylvia and 4 siblings.

He was a graduate of Augsburg College and Luther Seminary. He became an ordained minister and served parishes in Chicago and Park Forest, IL; Edina MN; Pella, Charles City, and Grinnell, IA; and Kairos Lutheran Community in MN.

He was awarded a Bronze Star for service in the army in Korea, was imprisoned with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr in Albany, GA in 1962, ordained the first woman Lutheran parish pastor in 1970, among many other achievements.

Memorial service will be held at a future date at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, with burial at Fort Snelling. Watch his Caring Bridge site for more information.
